Easy Nevada and the Pyramid’s Curse is an action packed adventure novel worthy of comparison to Indiana Jones and Lara Croft. The excitement begins on the first page and does not let up until the very last of the book.
The story begins with Easy Nevada, a treasure hunter in search of a two thousand year old relic to add to her employer’s collection. She has already found twelve of the relics and at the beginning of the book finds the information she needs to hunt for the thirteenth and most valuable of the collection. This information leads Easy to an archaeological dig in the Sudan where she meets the lead archaeologist Candice Cushing, who has just uncovered a two thousand year old and long buried pyramid. The adventure and action explodes when these two characters come together and just never stops for the rest of the book.
The characters in the book are definitely memorable and worthy of this type of adventure novel. Easy Nevada is smart, witty, sarcastic, irritating, and has to have the last word. She is the kind of person you can’t decide if you want to hug or strangle. Candice Cushing is the serious archaeologist who is determined to find what treasures she can for her home country of Sudan even though she was raised in England. In a way, her character was a bit bland to me, at least at the beginning of the book. She does gain more complexity toward the end, and I look forward to seeing how her character evolves in the next book. There are also several bad guys in the book. Some you meet and some stay in the background only to be heard through the other characters.
I will admit that at the very beginning of this book, I wondered if I would like it. Some of the actions seemed impossible to me. Then I realized I just needed to suspend reality a bit and I got hooked. I ended up reading the entire book in one day. The adventures were so exciting and so continuous that I actually had to stop reading at certain points and go do something else for a few minutes just to catch my breath.
If you love adventure books, make sure you read this one. I’m glad I did, and I can’t wait for book two.
