I first read “Greengage Holiday Cheer” by Emma Sterner-Radley as part of a Christmas anthology called Winter Hearts. Since then, Ms. Sterner-Radley has slightly re-edited the tale and published it as the second installment in the Greengage series.
In this adorable story we get to revisit the small English island of Greengage with all of its crazy and lovable characters. The story occurs near Christmas and main characters, Kit Sorel and Laura Howard are both busy. Laura is now the head of Howard Hall and Greengage Farm with the added responsibility of being in charge of the town’s holiday preparations. This leaves her little time to be with her girlfriend Kit. Kit is spending her first Christmas away from the mainland. Since she has so little time with her girlfriend, she finds herself helping to solve a mystery for two of her friends. She is asked to find the “missing and naughty ‘Pinky’.” Of course Kit gets lots of help from her friends on the island which makes the tale even more hilarious.
I really enjoyed this story. It is funny and sweet, and made me chuckle as I read it. Sometimes you need something that makes you smile and laugh. This story, as well as Greengage Plots and the latest novel in the series, Greengage Shelf will do exactly that, so if you need to read something that will make you happy, try these stories.
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.
