I had a lot of fun reading Presidential by Lola Keeley. As soon as I saw her name as the author and the title of the book, I knew I wanted to read this one.
This book reminded me of some of my very favorite uber fan fiction, specifically Madam President by Blayne Cooper and T. Novan. It had the same sort of feel to the story even though there are definite differences. Several other readers have mentioned that it is also kind of a lesbian version of the television show The West Wing and the movie The American President. I can’t comment on those since I haven’t seen the movie or watched much of the t.v show.
I can tell you that this is a very well written novel. I connected with the characters right away which is good since I’m a character reader. Even though the theme is based on U.S. politics, the story is really not too angst-ridden. Considering the author is from the UK, she did an excellent job of writing about U.S. politics and all its many quirks. I can only remember one small oops in one person’s political title. She even has a mini Trump character in the story, but he is a fairly minor character, thank goodness. The romance is lovely, and not too quick, though it isn’t a slow-burn either. It also has several pretty steamy scenes.
I am very glad I was able to read Presidential by Lola Keeley, and if you enjoy a good romance set in a political world, I think you will enjoy it too.
I received an ARC from Ylva Publishing for an honest review.
