Puppy Love ~ A Review

I am a sucker for a beautiful furry face, and can’t seem to pass by any puppy, kitty, horse, or even a cute feathered face on a book cover. It is no surprise to anyone who knows me that I would read a book titled Puppy Love by L.T. Smith, especially with that adorable puppy on the cover (whichever cover you are looking at since there is a new cover for this book).

This novella tells the story of two women who fall in love with the same dog up for adoption at Dogs Trust (a real life shelter for dogs in the UK). Emily and Ellie work out a plan to go to the shelter together every day to play with Charlie the Border Terrier, and whoever he bonds with will get to take him home. Of course you can see where this is going. There just might be more than just human-dog bonding going on, if the two can overcome some past trauma and misunderstandings.

This is an absolutely wonderful, heartwarming story. It is short enough to read in one sitting, but filled with enough romance, love, red bouncy balls, and doggie kisses to make anyone feel happy. The characters are all well-developed and loveable. The setting is beautiful, and the story itself will put a smile on your face for the rest of the day.

What is even more delightful is the fact that the author is donating her profits from this book to the real life Dogs Trust. That means that when you buy this novella, not only are you getting an exceptional story to read, you’ll know that a portion of the money you paid will be helping dogs like Charlie find their forever home with loving owners to care for them. I can’t think of anything better than that.

I received an ARC from Ylva Publishing for an honest review.
