Cherry On Top~A Review

Georgia Beers has written another delightful romance with her newest novel, Cherry on Top. Ms. Beers can always be relied on to write love stories that will melt your heart, and this book fits right into that category.

This story takes the reader into the world of social media and especially online influencers, something I have very little knowledge of. Cherry Davis wants to become a full-time online influencer so she can finally quit her dead end job in insurance. She works hard at her online profile and sometimes fudges the truth a bit to make herself appear more perfect to her followers. Ellis Conrad dreams of being an award winning journalist but is currently the manager of a small café in town so she can help keep her disabled sister in a good care home. There is definite chemistry when the two women meet, but then Ellis lands a writing job with 11th Commandment, a site that exposes politicians, local celebrities and online influencers that are less than truthful.

I have to admit I had a bit of trouble at first connecting with Cherry, probably because I didn’t understand what an influencer is and why or how she could make that into a full-time business. Once I got into the tale, though, I understood the motivations of both Cherry and Ellis. There is a fair amount of angst connected with both characters’ pasts that affects their actions with each other. While the setting is not as important in this character-driven story, the author did a good job describing where this tale takes place. The romance is every bit as lovely as you expect from a novel by Georgia Beers.

I enjoyed reading this love story, and even learned a few things about our online world. I recommend this book to all romance lovers.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for an honest review.
